2025 offers an exceptional opportunity for the Hungarian astronomy and astrophysics community to meet in person once again, to share ideas about today’s challenges and tomorrow’s possibilities. After several attempts, the last comprehensive gathering of Hungarian astronomy and astrophysics took place in 2013 at Galyatető. The Academy’s 200th anniversary and its renovated headquarters now provide an inspiring setting for a one-day event focused on professional dialogue and community building.
The meeting aims to review together: where is Hungarian astronomy headed today? What are the key questions, problems, and directions that will shape the coming years and decades? In addition to institutional presentations and a few overview lectures, we will give special emphasis to PhD students by offering them the chance to introduce their doctoral research orally. We ask supervisors to encourage their students to apply and participate actively.
This meeting will create opportunities for new connections to form, shared ideas to emerge, and our community to grow stronger as we look to the future.
Presentation language: English or Hungarian.
Registration
Deadline: June 20, 2025
Registration fee: None, but registration is mandatory for participation!
We are looking forward to receiving titles and abstracts primarily from PhD students (including MSc students with outstanding scientific results - e.g. OTDK 1.-2.-3. places, and recently defended PhDs) and invited speakers. Unfortunately due to the limited time allocated to the event we can offer only a limited number of talks. Thank you for understanding. Authors of accepted contributions will be notified by email.
